This makes a Flanders Brown Ale
Extract Version Ingredients: (5 Gallons)
Procedure: Bring 2 gallons of water to a boil and dissolve extract. Boil for 15 minutes, adding 1oz. Tettnang Finishing hops for final 5 minutes. Chill and add to 3 gallons of cold water (top fermenter to 5 gallons). Ferment at 68 degrees or so. Primary 12 days. Rack beer off sediment and prime with 3/4 cup of corn sugar and bottle.
All Grain Version Ingredients: (5 Gallons)
Substitute 7lbs. 2 row Pale Malt, 2oz Crystal Malt, 4oz. Wheat Flakes and 4oz. Oat Flakes for the 2 cans of extract. Increase boil time to 120 minutes. Add 1.5oz. Hallertauer hops for 60 minute boil.
Procedure: Crack all grains and mash in at 153 degrees and hold for
90 minutes or until conversion is complete. Sparge with with an additional
5 gallons of 170 degree water. Extend boil time to 120 minutes. Add
Hallertauer bittering hops for 60 minute boil and Tettnang finish hops for last 5 minutes.
